Mission Statement

Welcome to Spotlighting Female Golfers! This is a blog dedicated to empowering the voices of female golfers. In a male dominated sport, it is easy for the experiences, perspectives, and voices of female golfers to be overlooked. Here, the goal is to compile articles that shed light on the female golfer. This isn’t something that can be seen on the news, or something that you read about in golf magazines. This is a compilation of the stories of female golfers, each of whom strives to attain success in this sport and has persevered through their own highs and lows. You’ve seen their successes, their tournament results, their golf statistics, and their rankings. But you haven’t seen their stories...until now.

These are the fields that this blog covers:

Personal Experiences/Message to Female Golfers

This field features written works by female golfers which detail aspects of their experiences throughout their golf journey and/or contain words of advice for other golfers either on a technical, mental, or emotional level.

Authors have the liberty to approach this field from whatever angle they see fit, but for inspiration, prompts for this category include but are not limited to:

  1. When did you start playing golf and how did you get into it?

  2. What do you feel you have gained from this sport?

  3. What is your favorite memory as a junior golfer?

  4. What’s it like competing in golf versus other sports?

  5. For those of you on a co-ed team, what is it like competing alongside and against boys? How would you describe the level of respect and equality you experience on the team?

  6. What advice would you offer for younger female junior golfers?

*Note*: Articles can fall under more than one prompt

General Articles

This field features written works by female golfers that take the form of news articles. These articles could feature recent events/tournaments in junior golf, highlight/advertise a new training aid that the author found useful, interviews with tournament officials, a biography of a historical female golfer figure, etc.

It is essentially an open ended field designed as a “wildcard” section for female golfers who have article ideas that don’t fall under the previous two categories.
